On February 6th at approximately 12:30 p.m. a hit and run occurred in the Columbus Post Office parking lot on Atlantic Avenue. An elderly female was sitting in her parked vehicle when she was startled when another vehicle struck her car. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan came to her aid and had the peace of mind to record the vehicle registration and a description of the driver before that driver fled the scene. The Good Samaritan accompanied the elderly woman across the street to the police station where officers were notified of the incident. Within minutes, the information provided led to the fleeing driver being stopped on US Route 206. The driver of that vehicle, identified as Geetha Seshadri, 57 years old of Columbus, was escorted back to the scene of the crash and, after an investigation, was cited for several offenses including Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash and Failure to Report a Motor Vehicle Crash. We are grateful that the gentleman took time out of his day to intervene in a situation that otherwise would have left an elderly woman with a damaged vehicle and little or no information for police to use to locate the responsible party.
