On Tuesday, July 30th, at 12:27 p.m., police conducted a pedestrian stop on Route 130, near the border of Florence Township. The pedestrians, later identified as Darren J. Haley and Sonji A. Russell, both of Bordentown, were observed to be in violation of pedestrian law.
After stopping the subjects to advise them of the violation, police learned that an active criminal warrant existed for Haley’s arrest, and that he was listed as a Wanted Person by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department, for non-payment of child support. Haley was taken into police custody and later remanded to the county jail.
Investigation also revealed that a criminal arrest warrant existed for Russell, who had falsely identified herself to police as another person in an attempt to avoid being arrested. After her true identity was determined, Russell was taken into custody and subsequently charged with hindering apprehension by volunteering false information to police. After the completion of her arrest processing, Russell was lodged at the county jail, in lieu of her total bail amount of $4,500.00.
