On Saturday, February 15th at 1:37 p.m., police were dispatched to Route 68 for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Investigation on scene revealed that one of the involved drivers, James C. Weeks, Jr., 40 years old of New Brunswick, had consumed some amount of alcoholic beverages prior to driving. After he failed to satisfactorily complete a series of field sobriety tests, Weeks was placed under arrest. A subsequent search of his person revealed that Weeks was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS). At police headquarters, Weeks was charged with possession of CDS. In addition, Weeks was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, refusal to submit to breath testing, possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle, and driving while suspended. After the completion of his arrest processing, Weeks was released to a friend pending a court appearance in the Mansfield Township Municipal Court. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
