Arrest of Aggressive Driver Who Confronted Motorist & Evaded Police – 5/1/14

On Monday, April 28th at approximately 4:00 p.m. police were dispatched to Homestead Plaza II on Columbus Road in response to an aggressive driver complaint. The caller reported that the suspect, later identified as David Yunker, 34 years old of Pemberton Borough, was driving erratically, had veered off the roadway, and was driving a vehicle with two flat tires. After realizing that he was being followed, Yunker pulled his vehicle into the shopping plaza, exited the car to confront the caller, and damaged the caller’s vehicle by striking it with a closed fist. Yunker abandoned his car and left the scene on foot prior to police arrival. Once on location, officers searched the area and located Yunker in the Country Walk development, but when approached by an officer, Yunker fled and a foot chase ensued. Although Yunker was not immediately apprehended, the investigating officer gathered sufficient information at the scene to identify Yunker after the encounter.

On Thursday, May 1st, Yunker was taken into custody by the Pemberton Borough Police Department and later turned over to this agency. Yunker was charged with Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing Administration of Law, and Criminal Mischief, as well as being issued numerous motor vehicle summonses. Bail was set at $2,500.00 for the charges listed. Additionally, Yunker had several active warrants for his arrest from other jurisdictions. Yunker was transported to the Burlington County Jail and lodged in lieu of bail.
