On Tuesday, September 24th, our department took delivery of our new patrol car, a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV. Although this is a sport utility vehicle, it is two-wheel drive and designed to perform emergency vehicle operations. This vehicle is a long awaited replacement of a patrol car that was totaled in a crash in December 2012. We have an aging fleet that is on the move 24 hours a day. Last year, we amassed over 182,000 miles patrolling the township’s 23 square miles. The addition of this patrol vehicle is a timely improvement to our fleet and it is the first new vehicle we have purchased since 2008. We are working on installing the last pieces of equipment to prepare it for duty, then you will start seeing it on patrol throughout the township.
