On February 1st at approximately 6:30 p.m., police attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on a 2008 Chevrolet HHR for a traffic violation. The driver, later identified as Richard R. Leoncini, 57 years old of Monroe, entered State Highway Route 68 southbound after first committing a traffic violation on US Highway Route 206. Leoncini refused to stop for police and was finally apprehended without incident at the security gate to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst off of State Highway Route 68. Once in custody, Leoncini was transported to Mansfield Township Police Headquarters and processed. Leoncini was charged with Eluding, Improper U-Turn, Failure to Maintain Lane and Disregard of a Traffic Control Device. Leoncini was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. No one was injured during the pursuit.
