The Mansfield Township Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian on Route 206 southbound at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21st in the area of the Imperial Inn.
A motorist contacted police after seeing the pedestrian walking along the highway during the snowstorm. The motorist then observed a vehicle in the rear view mirror swerve upon passing the area where the pedestrian had been seen walking.
The motorist turned around to check on the pedestrian and determined the vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision was a white sedan with only one working headlight. The pedestrian was discovered on the ground on the side of the road.
The injured person was described as a 69-year-old man. He was taken to a Trenton hospital and is listed in critical condition. His name is being withheld because his family has not yet been notified about the collision.
