Vehicle Burglary Investigation Leads to One Arrest, Second Suspect Sought – 2/8/15

On Saturday, February 8th at 4:17 a.m., police were dispatched to Heather Court in the Country Walk development for a report of an individual looking into vehicles with a flashlight. Upon arriving in the area, police observed a female, later identified as Amanda Picard, 23 years old of Toms River, seated in a vehicle at the corner of Heather Court and Fieldcrest Drive. While speaking to the Picard, she was unable to explain why she was in the area and police noticed a wallet in the passenger side door. Picard turned the wallet over to police and it was determined to be stolen property from a resident in Country Walk.  Picard also turned over two bags to police that contained various amounts of suspected heroin, crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia, as well as other items that were believed to be stolen. Picard was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing. While at police headquarters, Picard was found to be in possession of more drug paraphernalia, consisting of a crack pipe and a hypodermic needle and a small amount of CDS. Picard was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, and Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. Picard was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.

Police are still investigating the connection of a second suspect that evaded police and is the suspect in the theft of a motor vehicle from Petticoat Bridge Road that occurred sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. that morning.

Any residents of Country Walk that have security cameras on their property are asked to contact police, as any footage of the culprits would be helpful to the investigation. Additionally, all residents are urged to lock their vehicles, homes, and sheds/out buildings to discourage easy access by thieves.
