On Thursday, July 25th, at approximately 6:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a one car crash on Route 130. When police arrived, the vehicle, a 1996 Chevrolet van, was occupied by the registered owner, Michael Portalatin, Jr., 35 years old of Roebling. Investigation revealed that Portalatin was driving southbound on the highway before his vehicle crossed over the curbed highway divider and the northbound lanes, eventually leaving the roadway and crashing into a block wall adjacent to the northbound shoulder. After crashing into the wall, the vehicle overturned and rolled over completely before coming to rest on its wheels. Portalatin sustained injury to his head and was transported to Capital Health System Hospital, in Trenton. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
